I personally do agree with McLuhan when he makes the statement that comics are an extension of photographic media. A feature of comics that McLuhan refers to which is in common with photographic media is the fact that the reader is limited to interpreting whatever little information is provided in the comic strip. It leaves room for personal interpretation, which is a feature of photographic media. This is termed in the article as “cool media” whereas hot media such as movies are very direct and leave little room for personal interpretation.
